The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra is accepting mid-year auditions by video submission! Musicians ages 8-18 who play wind, brass, string and percussion instruments are invited to sign up to audition by December 13, 2021. Deadline to submit audition videos is: December 20, 2021. Audition fee: $25

Join Liberated Learners in a community discussion inspired by Chasing Childhood, a new feature documentary about how free play has virtually disappeared for today’s children, while stress and expectations for performance, achievement, and busyness have skyrocketed. Parents, children, and experts alike are ringing the alarm bell about the dramatic rise in anxiety and depression in young children and teens -- and championing the antidote that freedom and play could offer. 11/6Veteran’s Day Program, Trenton Battle Monument, 10am., The Kiwanis Club of Trenton invites the public to attend a flag dedication ceremony and star planting at the Trenton Battle Monument. The program continues the Kiwanis commitment to help maintain the Battle Monument, site of Washington’s pivotal victory over the British in December 1776. The giant U.S. flag which flies next to the Monument is periodically replaced by Trenton Kiwanis. The ceremony will feature a performance by the Catholic Community Choir, as well as participation by local Boy Scouts, clergy and civic leaders. 11/6 – Cannon Firing Demo, Washington Crossing State Park, NJ, 12-4pm., Lamb’s Artillery Company (Revolutionary War reenactment group) will be conducting Artillery demonstrations in the field behind the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville, New Jersey. The cannon firing demonstrations will be held at 12:00, 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30. The Visitor Center Museum can be reached from I-95 by taking the Trenton/Lambertville Exit (this is the first exit in N.J. heading north and the last exit heading south). Head north on Route 29 for 2 ½ miles and turn right at the first traffic light. Park Entrance will be on your left in a ½ mile. Enter the park and follow the signs to the Visitor Center Museum. The Children Making a Difference benefit concert empowers singers that they can make a difference by using their time and talents to help others. 11/13 – Opera to Broadway, 7:30pm., Boheme Opera NJ will bring a spectacular gala concert entitled Opera to Broadway to St. Magdalen de Pazzi Parish, 105 Mine Street in Flemington, NJ. 11/14 – Geocaching, Washington Crossing State Park, 1:30pm., a high-tech update on the old-fashioned scavenger hunt game, which utilizes GPS (global positioning system) technology to locate objects hidden in the park. Participants will learn how to obtain information and hints from the Geocaching.com website, on the location of dozens of geocache sites in and around the state park. They will then use handheld GPS devices to go out and find as many caches as possible. Participants should bring a pocket full of trinkets to exchange when they locate caches. Trinkets can include small toys and balls, plastic jewelry, pens, pencils, scratch pads, patches, action figures, coins, etc. A limited number of GPS navigation devices will be made available to participants on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own handheld GPS device or smart phone with Geocaching app installed if you have one. Advanced registration and payment required. Fee: $2.00/person (exact change please). 11/14 - Princeton History Walking Tour, 2pm. Historical Society of Princeton Sunday tours of town and campus are back! Enjoy a 90-minute walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Bainbridge House, Nassau Hall, the University Chapel and Palmer Square.
