Friends of Princeton Open Space Photo Contest for All Ages
We welcome professional and amateur photographers to submit their best shot to our annual Give Thanks for Nature Photo Contest for a chance to win prizes provided by contest sponsor, REI. Photographs must be taken in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve between November 27, 2020, and January 31, 2021. Here is the submission information for the Photo Contest. Photo enthusiasts ages 16 and under are invited to participate in this year's photo contest for a chance to win gift card prizes from local businesses such as jaZams, the bent spoon + LiLLiPiES. There is good news for science fans who are looking for something to do during winter weekends as the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory’s (PPPL) 36-year tradition of offering weekly cutting-edge, informative talks on a wide variety of science subjects continues with a live online version. The Ronald E. Hatcher Science on Saturday Lecture Series resumes on Jan. 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and continues through March 13 on the Zoom virtual meeting platform. The lecture series attracts hundreds of people each week, ranging from high school students to senior citizens who have been coming to the lectures for decades. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science.

PCYH ON ZOOM - with live interactive group process: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction - 8 weeks start: Sunday, January 31, 2021 - 6:00 to 8:30 pm OR Tuesday, February 2, 2021 - 7:00 to 9:30 pm - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. The program's structured educational approach offers mindfulness meditation and gentle yoga as the core of its program to guide people to take better care of themselves and to live healthier and more adaptive lives. WWAC MLK Day Virtual Panel Discussion and a Day of Service January 18
The panel discussion will begin at 2:00 PM EST and will be led by the WW-P POC Advocacy group. To register for the Virtual Panel Discussion, CLICK HERE.
In addition, we have several service projects to make your MLK day a "day on, not a day off." These projects will require advance preparation followed by delivery to the West Windsor Arts Center on January 18th.
For more information about the Day of Service Projects, please CLICK HERE. You will be able to read more about the projects and sign up for one, or more. Then, in order to adhere to COVID 19 safety guidelines, you will be asked to pre-register for a drop off time. Projects will serve our neighbors in need from the following local service organizations: Rise Community Services, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Send Hunger Packing WWP, and Jennye Stubblefield Senior Center in Trenton.

Annual Princeton Community Works Conference Jan 25 -27
For the first time, the Annual Princeton Community Works – a Conference focused on meeting the needs of for volunteers, boards and staff of nonprofit organizations – will be taking place online, January 25-27, 2021. Also, the total cost of PCW is reduced to $10 per person. This enables more people than ever to engage, gain inspiration and learn critical skills to survive these challenging times. This year’s PCW has a flexible and convenient schedule that provides a variety of options for attendees. On the opening night, participants can attend an inspiring keynote address, which will be followed by some evening sessions. During the next two days, participants also can choose to attend lunchtime and evening professional development workshops it they like. 1/30 – Ice Harvest, Howell Living History Farm, 10am., In late January, visitors to the farm will learn about the tools and technology that made ice harvesting a successful business at the turn of the 20th century, and try their hand at using an ice saw on the pond.
