Princeton History Walking Tours, Historical Society of Princeton

Enjoy a 90-minute walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Bainbridge House, Nassau Hall, the University Chapel and Palmer Square. The early history of Princeton, the founding of the University, and the American Revolution are just some of the stories from Princeton’s history that you will learn on your tour. Hunterdon County Historical Society Annual Fall Program

Everyone is welcome to the Hunterdon County Historical Society’s annual fall meeting on Sunday, Nov. 14 with guest Dr. Stephen Kaufman.

Dr. Kaufman will discuss "The Peopling of the Americas: How and When Did Native Americans Come to Hunterdon County" at 2 p.m. in the Flemington Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 10 East Main St. in Flemington. The event is free.

Dr. Kaufman will discuss where the first people who arrived in the Hunterdon County area originated, the routes they traveled to get here and when they arrived. Dr. Kaufman, holds a PhD in Archaeology and recently retired as a full professor from Raritan Valley Community College. He chaired the Department of Humanities at RVCC for several years, and taught classes in anthropology, archaeology and racial diversity. Dr. Kaufman and his wife, Phyllis, also ran a travel agency, which gave them the opportunity to travel the globe and conduct trips to many of the world’s major archaeological and historical sites.

Second Sunday Poetry Readings, Princeton Makes and Ragged Sky Press

Princeton Makes, a new Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, have announced the launch of Second Sunday Poetry Readings. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center. The first reading will be at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 14.

The November 14 reading will feature James Richardson, an emeritus professor of English and Creative Writing at Princeton University, and David Orr, a Professor of Poetry and the Practice of Criticism at Rutgers University. Their readings will be followed an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry.

Indoor Orchestral Concert, Princeton Symphony Orchestra

On Tuesday, December 14 at 7:30 pm, the PSO will present its annual Holiday POPS! concert live at McCarter. Rossen Milanov conducts the Princeton Symphony Orchestra at this treasured Princeton holiday event. Families for whom this popular concert is an ongoing tradition will want to take note of the new date, time, and location, and reserve tickets early.

Tickets for the indoor orchestral concerts at McCarter Theatre Center range from $25-$90 for adults and half-price for youths 7-17, and may be ordered through the Princeton Symphony Orchestra website at princetonsymphony.org.
