Stony Brook Spring Planting, Mercer Parks

Location: Rosedale Park, 424 Federal City Road, Pennington, NJ 08534

Join the Stewardship team in a spring planting at Rosedale Park with a focus on beautifying areas next to the Lawrence Hopewell Trail extension. The goal will be to install over 1,500 native trees and shrubs this spring, and to make this effort happen we are seeking help from volunteers. The large planting project is a yearlong effort that involves planting, fence installation, and invasive species management. This effort will make Rosedale Lake, the Stony Brook, and Rosedale Park an even better place to recreate and enjoy nature.

. An estimated one out of every five people will experience a diagnosable mental disorder in any given year. Recognizing a mental health problem and knowing how to address it are invaluable skills. This eight-hour training will help you identify and understand signs and symptoms of individuals who may be dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders, trauma, psychosis, and deliberate self-injury. You will also learn how to respond in a mental health crisis, offer support to someone who appears to be in emotional distress and, if necessary, guide the person to appropriate services.

Poetry Palooza, Morven Museum & Garden

Virtual celebration of National Poetry Month featuring the poems of Morven’s resident poet Annis Boudinot Stockton, ornithology, conservation, morality, and more. Writing prompts and beverage recipes provided to ticketholders. “Coloring the Conservation Conversation” features professor, ornithologist, conservationist and poet Drew Lanham, who discusses what it means to embrace the full breadth of his African-American heritage and his deep kinship to nature and adoration of birds. Historical Fiction Book Group: Hamnet

Participate in a discussion of the fictional elements and the nonfictional context of Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet. Set in 1580s Stratford, England during the Black Plague, this New York Times Best Seller imagines the domestic and artistic repercussions when a famous playwright and his wife lose their only son, 11-year old Hamnet.

This virtual session (via Google Meet) will be led by Larry Danson, Professor of English Emeritus at Princeton University. Co-sponsored by the Princeton Public Library.

Saving Lives with the COVID-19 Vaccine in NJ Asian-American Communities - Town Hall Meeting

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is hosting two free virtual town halls aimed at addressing facts, fears and myths related to the COVID-19 vaccines. Registration is required for both. When participants register, they can submit questions that they would like addressed during the town hall.

The first, “Saving Lives with the COVID-19 Vaccine in NJ Asian-American Communities,” takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20. To register, visit: https://bit.ly/39EjPYt.
