Historic Princeton Walking Tour - Bainbridge House

Art@Bainbridge, 158 Nassau Street, Princeton

Enjoy a 90-minute walk around downtown Princeton and the University campus as you learn about historic sites in the area, including Bainbridge House, Nassau Hall, the University Chapel and Palmer Square. The early history of Princeton, the founding of the University and the American Revolution are just some of the stories from Princeton’s history that you will learn on your tour. Tickets are $7. Advance purchase is recommended, as space is limited. Tour starts OUTSIDE the Art@Bainbridge building. Walk up ticket sales are cash only; guides cannot provide change.

PARKING: Meters are enforced 7 days a week. Click here for details about parking in Princeton. Free parking is available on weekends in Princeton University’s numbered lots. Lot 10, on William Street, is closest to the start of the Sunday walking tour.

Artist Reception, Mercer County Library Branch Headquarters

The beauty and tranquility of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail (LHT) as captured by Ewing Township photographer Susan Jacobsen will be on display at the Mercer County Library Branch Headquarters throughout January, with a special reception honoring her Sunday, January 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, which is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville.

The Jacobsen exhibition, Trailscapes: The Beauty of the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, is the first public exhibition of photographs of the LHT.

Open House, Princeton Skating Club

The Princeton Skating Club invites you and your family to attend an Open House at the Princeton Day School rink located at 650 Great Road, Princeton, NJ. The Club hosts Open House events to provide information about membership, group lessons and an opportunity to skate with us. Skate rentals will be available for a small fee on these dates.

Jenny Lin, Solo Piano, Greater Princeton Steinway Society

The Greater Princeton Steinway Society will present pianist Jenny Lin in concert on Sunday, January 12, 2020. The concert will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Jacobs Music, 2540 Brunswick Pike (U.S. Route 1), Lawrenceville. NJ. A reception with refreshments and conversation with the performer will follow the performance. Ms. Lin's program will feature works by Liszt, Kapustin, and Philip Glass.

Lin has been acclaimed for her "remarkable technical command" and "a gift for melodic flow" by The New York Times. The Washington Post praises "Lin's confident fingers...spectacular technique...," "...surely one of the most interesting pianists in America right now...," and Gramophone Magazine has hailed her as "an exceptionally sensitive pianist."

Admission to the musicale is $20 for individual nonmembers and $10 for full-time student nonmembers. The box office opens at Jacobs Music 30 minutes before each musicale. Seating is limited, so please arrive early to ensure a seat.

Choral Reading of Gilbert and Sullivan, The Pirates of Penzance, Princeton Society of Musical Amateurs

Choral singers welcome. No auditions. Vocal scores provided. Refreshments at intermission. $10 admission for singers (or annual membership). Free for students and non-singing guests. Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, Rt 206 at Cherry Hill Road, Princeton NJ. Princeton Society of Musical Amateurs 

Members of the community gathered together for the common and joyful enterprise of making music, to sing through for their own pleasure the great works in choral literature, with chorus, orchestra, and soloists as the works require. The meetings are informal readings in which any musically interested person may join the chorus. There are no separate rehearsals and no auditions. Conductors usually do some preparation with the chorus before the sing-through. This varies from minimal snatches for well-known pieces to a complete review for unfamiliar works. Doom and Bloom Art Exhibtion Opening Reception, West Windsor Arts Center

Mark your calendar for the opening reception of the Doom and Bloom art show, which will highlight the crisis of trash on earth and the potential of artists to impact the environment through recycling. The exhibition will feature artworks made of at least 80% recycled materials and is juried by Vernita Nemec (AKA Vernita N'Cognita), current director of Viridian Artists art gallery. Vernita N'Cognita and featured artists will be present to discuss their works.
