MCCC Lecture - The Status of Feminism in Today’s Society

Wednesday February 20, 2019
12:00 PM

Has feminism become more of a trend than a movement? That will be the topic of discussion by Latina artist Tamara Torres in an upcoming lecture at Mercer County Community College (MCCC).

“La Feminista: Soy Yo? (The Feminist, Am I?)” will be the title of Torres’ talk at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the Communications Building, Room 108. Her presentation is part of MCCC’s spring 2019 Distinguished Lecture Series at the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Torres, a Trenton-based photographer, painter, and performance artist, will explore what feminism is for different cultures and generations of women. She will discuss her upcoming photo and video exhibit– which shares its name with the lecture – and how it attempts to bridge the different experiences and identities within the feminist movement through dialogue and posing the question: “What does feminism mean to you?”

Torah on Tap, KIXX Sports Bar

Wednesday February 20, 2019
8:00 PM

Join us for our monthly gathering at KIXX – the Sports Bar in Kingston, 4591 Route 27, as we gather to share some food, a good beer and a conversation about some critical topic in our Jewish lives. The Rabbi always brings a text or a topic or a story that keeps us talking for at least an hour. We welcome new people to our group and we are open to any men in our community including people who have not yet joined TJC. The food and drink are usually pretty good – the topic of the month is interesting and the camaraderie is the best part of all.
