Wargame of the Battle of Trenton, Washington Crossing State Park

The Battle of Trenton will be recreated by using miniature figures, dice and “Flint & Steel” rules developed by Richard Kane who will also be managing the game. Visitors can observe and some will be able to participate as the historic military commanders by issuing orders to their military units. As Colonel Rall can you save the Hessians from being captured by General Washington? It’s your chance to change history! The Battle of Trenton will be recreated at 1 PM at the Visitor Center Museum at Washington Crossing State Park in Titusville, New Jersey

The Visitor Center Museum can be reached from I-95 by taking the Trenton/Lambertville Exit (this is the first exit in N.J. heading north and the last exit heading south). Head north on Route 29 for 2 ½ miles and turn right at the first traffic light. Park Entrance will be on your left in a ½ mile. Enter the park and follow the signs to the Visitor Center Museum. “George Washington Remembers New Jersey”, Rockingham Historic Site

On Saturday, April 27 at 1:30 pm in the Dutch barn at Rockingham, Mr. Emerson returns once again to present “George Washington Remembers New Jersey.” Washington was no stranger to New Jersey. From Trenton to Princeton to Morristown to Monmouth to Middlebrook, (and more—Rockingham!), the General spent more time here than in any other state. Join General Washington as he reminisces about his brightest and darkest moments during the battles and encampments of the “Cockpit of the Revolution.” In this presentation, participants will learn more about New Jersey’s role in the American Revolution from the perspective of George Washington. Refreshments will be available after the presentation and Reservations are Strongly Suggested to attend, made by calling 609-683-7132.

A Celebration of Companion Animals with Patrick McDonnell, Princeton Public Library

Cartoonist Patrick McDonnell (“Mutts“) discusses his commitment to helping homeless animals and reads from his new books, “The MUTTS Summer Diaries” and “You Have Those Wild Eyes Again, Mooch: A New MUTTS Treasury.” Brian Hackett, Director of the Humane Society for New Jersey, will then discuss important state animal initiatives for 2019. Weather permitting, animals from local animal shelters will be available for adoption on Hinds Plaza.

NJAJE Division II State Final Featuring Princeton High School Studio Band and Jazz Ensemble

The Princeton Studio Band and Jazz Ensemble compete on Saturday night in the NJAJE Division II State Final competition. The top nine high school bands from the Division II preliminary round, perform, sight-read and improvise to be the best in the State. Tickets on sale at the door. $10 Adults, $5 Students/Seniors. 11th Annual PlayFest, Lawrence Library

The Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System is hosting PlayFest, its eleventh annual one-act play festival on Saturday, April 27. There will be two performances, 6:30 and 8:30 pm. Tickets are free, but seating is limited. Registration is required online starting at 9:30 am on Monday, April 8, 2019.

This free festival provides an entertaining evening for the audience and a venue for local playwrights and actors to showcase their talent. Local actors will perform the staged script-in-hand readings of six one-act plays selected for performance at the library. PlayFest directors are Julie Ellen Prusinowski, Mary Ann Wylie and Tim Moran.
