7:30 PM

Jazz pianist and audience favorite Shamie Royston returns with an all-star ensemble to Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown on Friday, April 28, at 7:30 p.m. For the past several years, she has performed in Hightstown to a standing-room-only crowd. For this performance, she will be joined by four terrific musicians—bassist Yasushi Nakumura, trumpeter Josh Evans, saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, and drummer E.J. Strickland.

The April 28th concert takes place at Tavern on the Lake, 101 North Main Street in Hightstown, NJ, in the large private nightclub-like upstairs room. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 first set. Drinks and dinner can be purchased. Cost of the concert is $25.

The event is hosted by REJS Entertainment.

7:30 PM

Antigona, McCarter Theater at Matthews, 91 University Place, Princeton, 609-258-2787
7:30 p.m., To describe Soledad Barrio as a force of nature is an understatement. This Spanish dynamo and the Madrid-based company she founded in 1993 with her husband and Artistic Director Martin Santangelo has become the gold standard of flamenco in its finest and most authentic form. While there may be a dozen other dancers, singers, and musicians on stage, Barrio is the indisputable star, a great artist without pretense. And in their 90-minuite adaptation of Sophocles’ Antigone (Antigona in Spanish), Barrio, her husband, and their company of 18 musicians and dancers fuse Greek tragedy and Spanish passion into a work of dance-theater that is not only a visual feast but a powerful visceral experience that conveys the essence of flamenco’s underlying relevance.
