3 p.m., Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani has emerged as a superstar of the harpsichord. His vast repertoire—from Baroque (Bach, Scarlatti) to the 21st century (Gorecki, Reich) and his seemingly infallible fingers make the harpsichord seem an instrument reborn. It also gives Esfahani many program options, including works from composers Byrd, Rameau, Martinu, Couperin, Lou Harrison, Gibbons, and Ligeti.

Luiz Simas, Solo Piano, Greater Princeton Steinway Society

Luiz Simas, a longtime fixture on the New York jazz scene, will be the Greater Princeton Steinway Society's guest artist for its final musicale of the 2016-17 season on Sunday, March 19. The concert will be a return engagement for Mr. Simas, who performed previously for Steinway Society audiences in 2006 and 2012. It will take place at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Jacobs Music, 2540 Brunswick Pike (U.S. Route 1), Lawrenceville, NJ. 

A social hour with refreshments and conversation with Mr. Simas will follow his performance.

Steinway Society memberships are $50 per individual or $85 per family and include admission to all six musicales. Tickets for individual musicales are $18 for adults or $10 for full-time students, and may be purchased at the Jacobs Music Recital Hall 30 minutes before each program. Benefactors contributing $100 and up, and Sponsors contributing $250 or more, also earn admission to all six musicales, plus recognition in the concert programs.

Restless Romantics Concert, Princeton Symphony Orchestra

On Sunday, March 19 at 4 pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra showcases violinist Philippe Graffin at its Restless Romantics concert conducted by Christopher Lyndon-Gee. On the program are two late romantic works, Edward Elgar's Violin Concerto in B Minor, Op. 61 and Carl Nielsen's Symphony No. 4, Op. 29 "The Inextinguishable." The performance takes place at Richardson Auditorium on Princeton University campus.

Candidate Forum and Endorsement Meeting

The Princeton Community Democratic Organization will hold a Candidate Forum and Endorsement Meeting for local races from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at the Suzanne Patterson Center behind Monument Hall in Princeton. Doors will open at 7:00.  The event is free and open to the public.
 
PCDO endorsement requires the approval of 60% of all eligible members present and voting.   Only Princeton residents whose membership is up to date as of March 5, 2017 are eligible to vote for local endorsements.
