“Sauce for the Goose” Holiday Show and Sale at The Arts Council of Princeton

The Arts Council of Princeton is pleased to announce the return of the “Sauce for the Goose” Holiday Show and Sale, its annual arts and crafts sale, from December 2 - 22 at the Paul Robeson Center’s Taplin Gallery.  Kicking off the sale is an opening reception on Friday, December 2 from 4:00-7:30 pm, where shoppers will have the first opportunity to view and purchase unique, hand-crafted works. The gallery will be open for shopping Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays 10am-5pm, Thursdays 10am-8pm, and Saturdays 10am-4pm. The show will run December 2 until December 22.

The sale features a mix of fine art and functional crafts, including paintings, drawings, functional and decorative ceramics, art glass, holiday ornaments, greeting cards, photography, jewelry, hand knit fashions, felted and beaded work, and more. Everyone is invited to take a gander as the sale runs throughout the holiday season.

This year, Sauce for the Goose will be partnering for the first time with LatArt.  LatArt was a born from the collaborative vision of a group of Latin American friends in the Princeton area, involved in the arts and interested in promoting the culture and traditions of their countries. The collection will feature a series of hand selected pieces including artistic apparel, accessories, and art objects that showcase the rich culture and legendary artisanal backgrounds of Mexico and Colombia.

The Arts Council will offer a special members-only discount.  All members will receive 10% off their total purchase throughout the duration of the sale. Non-members can purchase a membership online at, over the phone at (609) 924-8777, or in-person and receive their 10% discount immediately.

“Sauce for the Goose not only makes it possible for Princeton residents to find hand-made arts and crafts objects; it also supports local artists by providing them a valuable outlet for their work,” says Maria Evans, Community Arts Manager, who also organizes the annual sale.

Sauce for the Goose was born sixteen years ago as an invitational sale lasting only a couple of days, featuring work by Arts Council ceramics students, and has expanded over the years. The Arts Council’s sale, which takes its name from an old nursery rhyme -- “What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander” -- provides important income for local artists during the holiday season, while also raising funds to support the Arts Council’s programs.

The Arts Council of Princeton’s Paul Robeson Center for the Arts is located at 102 Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton. Parking is available in the Spring and Hulfish Street Garages as well as metered parking along Witherspoon Street and Paul Robeson Place. Sincere thanks to Olives and Chef Edgar Alfaro for their contribution of refreshments for the opening party.
