Arm In Arm Receives Grant of $10,000 from the Fred C. Rummel Foundation to Support Utilities Assistance Services

(TRENTON) – Arm In Arm has received a grant of $10,000 from the Fred C. Rummel Foundation to support utilities assistance services offered through its Housing Stability program. With funds to help Mercer County families and individuals maintain their utilities and avoid shut-off, this ensures that the heat, lights, and water stay on.

“Many Mercer County families are faced with some very difficult choices when bills come due,” says Arm In Arm’s Executive Director, Carolyn Biondi. “Keeping a roof overhead and food on the table take precedence when people struggle to make ends meet, and non-payment of utility bills can lead to the loss of a home. It is crucial to offer assistance before homelessness takes hold. This generous grant from the Rummel Foundation will provide important support to low-income families in need of a helping hand to prevent shut-off of vital utilities.”

In 2016 the Arm In Arm Utilities Assistance program helped 157 households to maintain or restore utilities. With the support of community friends and partners, Arm In Arm reaches more struggling neighbors with the support and resources they seek to achieve long-term stability.

Arm In Arm, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, partners each year with thousands of low-income Mercer County families and individuals who are improving their food security and nutrition, housing and financial stability, and job readiness. It has received a top four-star rating from independent nonprofit evaluator Charity Navigator six years in a row. More information is available at www.arminarm.org or 609-396-9355.
