Job Description:
The art teacher will prepare lesson plans and provide instruction consistent with the Arizona Standards for the Visual Arts to include creative expression, art history, and the aesthetic nature of art. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade will explore traditional fine arts as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture as well as computer graphics and design. The teacher will demonstrate methods and procedures using a variety of media including paint, clay, fibers, and paper. The teacher will help students to study art history and various cultures as well as appreciate art within their community and the world around them. The teacher will provide a classroom environment which cultivates creativity, self expression, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. The art teacher may be expected to facilitate student art contests and art exhibits throughout the year.

Education: Bachelor Degree with a valid Arizona K-8 teacher certificate including an art endorsement. Terms of employment include a nine-month year, placement on the RSD certified salary schedule, and benefits in accordance with Board policies.

Travel to East Africa With Global Alliance for Africa in February 2010 to help raise funds for an Art Therapy Program for Orphans and Vulnerable Children. The approximate cost will be $6,500. The trip length is approximately 12 days - cost includes RT airfare from Chicago, accommodations, local transport in Africa, safari, and majority of meals.

  • Visit rural and slum locations of therapeutic art programs in Kenya and Tanzania
  • Work side by side with African artists and craftspeople in a formal exchange at the Bagamoyo College of Arts on Tanzania’s coast

Children's physicians are faculty members at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University.In order to be considered for the Children's Memorial art therapy internship, you must meet the following criteria: * Be currently enrolled in the second year masters level of an accredited art therapy program.

Art 2010 Seeks Visual Artists
The Art @ Clowes program at Clowes Memorial Hall is currently seeking up to 4 visual artists to participate in the second annual Spotlight Art exhibition, to complement the annual performing arts fundraiser, Spotlight: One Night, One Stage, One Reason to raise money for the Indiana AIDS Fund and HIV/AIDS education and prevention. The exhibition will be part of the 2010 Art @ Clowes program, and is scheduled to run from April 12 through May 24, 2010.

The exhibition will be viewed by an estimated 20,000+ arts patrons over the five-week run. Sales sheets and additional information about each piece will be made available on request to these patrons for performances scheduled for Clowes Memorial Hall during the exhibition.

Art in various media may be submitted for this unique show. All artwork does not necessarily have to relate according to style, process or medium, but should relate to an overall exhibition theme of Courage and Hope, a theme relevant to those living with HIV and those who work to prevent the future spread of the disease.

Additional space for hanging two-dimensional pieces is available on the Second and Third Terraces. All work will be displayed/secured to walls, unless otherwise approved in advance by Clowes Memorial Hall staff.

The exhibition can include a variety of media including, but not limited to, textiles, painting, photography, printmaking, multimedia, drawings and illustration. No free standing works or installations can be displayed as part of the exhibition without advance approval. Some three-dimensional work has been approved for previous exhibitions.

How to Submit Information
If you are interested in being a part of this group exhibition, and have work that reflect this theme or would like to create work(s) specifically for this show, please submit the following:

· Contact information (name, address, phone number, web site and e-mail)
· Brief artist statement
· No more than a one page explanation of how your art interprets or relates to the exhibition theme.
· No more than 10 digital images of your work, including specific pieces for the show if they are already created. (Please note: Submitted works must be suitable for all audiences, including pre-school children.)
· Suggested price range for your work.
· Because Spotlight 2010 is a fundraiser, information about what portion of the proceeds from the sale of any works during the exhibition that would benefit the Indiana AIDS Fund. (Suggested contribution: 20% of sale price)

The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), in Long Beach, CA seeks an Associate Vice President of Education to lead the Museum's educational programs. The Associate VP of Education will provide leadership and vision for the education programming that explores Latin American art and culture.
