Civil War Flag Rotation

July 15, 10:00 am

Civil War Flags Gallery, 1st floor

Join Cultural History Curator Nicholas Ciotola and Civil War flag historian David Martin for the unveiling of the next group of flags from the New Jersey Civil War flag collection. Civil War re-enactors will provide an honor guard for the unveiling of five more flags from the collection. The history of each flags will be discussed.


Summer Maker Space

Every Wednesday through August 16

Imagination Studio, 10:00 am -2:00 pm

Drop in and unleash your creativity at our weekly Summer Maker Space! Each week a different hands-on challenge will be offered for you to make and take home. This free program is appropriate for ages 5 and up and will be held in our Innovation Studio from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm every Wednesday from June 21 to August 16.


Small Explorers Series

Third Saturday of each month

Discovery Den, 2nd floor 10:00 am

For children 6 months to 5 years old and their caregivers

Join us the 3rd Saturday of every month in the Discovery Den for our new Small Explorers Series! The first program will be held July 15. The Small Explorers Series is for children 6 months to 5 years and their caregivers. Each month will utilize a different theme to explore the Museum through stories, crafts and play. Each program is 30 to 45 minutes long and begins promptly at 10:00 am. Please plan to arrive by 9:45 am. Space is limited, advance registration is encouraged. New Jersey Arts Annual: Special Edition

The New Jersey Arts Annual is a unique series of exhibitions highlighting the works of visual artists and craftspeople in the state. Chosen for their excellence, these artists present works of drawing, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, glass, metal, wood and mixed media. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a Special Edition exhibition is presented by the New Jersey State Museum featuring crafts, fine arts and folk arts apprentices. The New Jersey Arts Annual series is sponsored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and presented in partnership with the Montclair Art Museum, the Morris Museum, the Newark Museum, The Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton University and the New Jersey State Museum.
