NJ Farm to School Network Spring School Garden Trainings in May

The New Jersey Farm to School Network is organizing a series of regional, on-site school garden trainings to take place inseveral cities across New Jersey this spring. Led by instructors with experience in running successful school garden projects, these workshops will give participants ideas about how to start and sustain school gardens and how to incorporate garden education into the classroom, meeting NJ state curriculum standards.

The workshops include a session on May 10 in New Brunswick at Rutgers Gardens and two separate trainings on May 14, one in Princeton and the other in Margate.

Each training session will provide participants with an overview of planning for a school garden, equipment, materials and supplies needed, funding a garden, curriculum ties to the classroom, and nutrition education connections.  Registration and more information on each workshop can be found at Call 609.577.5113 for details.

The New Jersey Farm to School Network was founded in 2008 to provide a statewide resource for farm to school programs. The NJ Farm to School Network works with schools, farmers, advocates, food service professionals, state agencies and others in New Jersey to improve school lunches and provide nutrition education through school garden programs. The Network is a member of the National Farm to School Network and works as the lead non-profit in New Jersey for Farm to School information.
