Planning the Perfect Wedding

Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times in a girl’s life! The ring, the dress, the man of your dreams, its an unforgettable experience. Unfortunately, along with all that come feelings of being overwhelmed, not knowing where to start and stressing out! Immediately following an engagement the first thing most brides do is run out and book a venue and buy a dress without really mapping out a plan. This is where things can start to snowball out of control. The first thing you should do after your engagement is relax and enjoy it for a little while. Take some time to really consider what kind of wedding you want. Think about the season, the colors and the overall look and feel you want your event to have. Going through bridal magazines is a great way to get inspiration and help you focus in on what your wedding style is.

Next you should make a list of priorities. What are the most important factors in this wedding as far as you are concerned? While some brides may want a couture gown and breathtaking decor, other brides may be focused on a great band and a top shelf bar at a hip location! By determining what aspects of the event are most important to you, your on our way to planning a successful event!

With these priorities outlined you can now work on your budget. Be sure to allot enough money in the areas that are more important to you but also remember to be realistic about the cost of things that you want.

Now that you have your priorities straight and have set parameters on what you can spend in each area you are ready to start looking for your ceremony and reception site as well as your vendors. A great way to start is by getting advice and recommendations from friends and family that have already gotten married. Also remember to be creative when planning your event. Look for unique locations to hold the wedding; perhaps on a lake, a historic site, an airplane hanger or even a tent in your backyard, the possibilities are endless! You can also do unique and memorable things like having a vocalist sing you down the aisle or have an acappella group serenade you as you dance your first dance as husband and wife! As for your reception, it doesn’t have to be a traditional sit down dinner if that’s not your style. An alternative is a station style event. Perhaps you and your new husband love to travel, each station can represents a different and meaningful place you traveled together. Maybe your both dessert lovers… You can host a sundown ceremony followed by a late night dessert reception! Chocolate fountains, a candy bar and cakes and pies galore! If your looking for a fun and casual event on a spring afternoon you can have a morning ceremony followed by brunch, mimosas’ and lawn games on a picturesque lake! No matter what type wedding you choose just remember that you are unique and should have a wedding that truly reflects our life and personal style!
