The West Windsor Community Farmers Market Opens May 2

04/07/2015

West Windsor, NJ, April 6, 2015 —Held every Saturday, from 9:00am-1:00pm, rain or shine until the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the West Windsor Community Farmers Market is proud to kick off its twelfth year market season on Saturday, May 2.

With 15 farms and 11 artisan food and natural product vendors, the West Windsor Community Farmers Market (WWCFM) is well known for its wide array of locally grown (conventional and organic) seasonal fruit, vegetables, and mushrooms: pasture raised and produced grass-fed meats (beef, lamb, pork, poultry, yak), dairy (cheese, yogurt), and farm fresh eggs.  Woven fibers, breads and baked goods, flowers and plants, honey, prepared foods, sauces, jams, pickled vegetables, wine and more can be found at the market each week.  The WWCFM’s mission to connect farmers directly with consumers is as relevant today as it was when the market began in 2004.

This year’s line up brings two new vendors to the marketplace, both sourcing local ingredients in their offerings: The Feed Truck of Kingston (www.thefeedtruck.org) prepares breakfast sandwiches, and LiLLiPies of Princeton (www.lillipies.com) crafts small batch baked goods.  The ever popular Jammin’ Crepes and Tico’s Juice Truck will continue to supply market patrons with fresh and delicious choices.   The WWCFM continues to be the place to spend time on Saturday mornings; stroll around to enjoy the weekly live music, cooking demonstrations, special events and community groups.  Weekly knife and blade sharpening by Nice and Sharp and bi-weekly massage by The Touch That Heals both begin May 2.

The Market is located in the Vaughn Drive Parking Lot of the southbound side of the Princeton Junction Train Station, one mile from the Alexander Road and Route 1 intersection or half a mile walk down Vaughn Drive from the Dinky stop.  Plenty of free parking for cars and bicycles.

Since 2012, the WWCFM has been voted the annual Top Celebrated Market in New Jersey and a Top 100 Most Celebrated Market Nationwide, in American Farmland Trust’s I Love My Farmers Market Contest.

Up-to-date weekly events can be found on our website: westwindsorfarmersmarket.org.  For more information, call 609 933-4452 or email wwcfm@yahoo.com.  Be sure to follow the market on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for timely market info and photos.

Held every Saturday, from 9:00am-1:00pm, rain or shine, until Thanksgiving, the West Windsor Community Farmers Market is a worthwhile stop on Saturday mornings.  Visit us and see for yourself why the West Windsor Community Farmers Market continues to be New Jersey’s favorite farmers market*.  Connect directly with the folks who grow and raise your food, enjoy live music, prepared foods, cooking demonstrations and special events all in an open-air marketplace.

Fifteen of Central New Jersey’s best farms and eleven artisan vendors gather weekly to bring a wide array of local products to the Market for residents of West Windsor and neighboring towns to enjoy.   Seasonal, locally grown fruit, vegetables, mushrooms, pastured meats and poultry, dairy and farm fresh eggs can be found at the market along with woven fiber products, breads, baked goods, flowers, plants, honey, prepared foods, soap, sauces, jams, pickled vegetables and wine.  Breakfast and brunch selections include Jammin’ Crepes’ savory and sweet crepes, The Feed Truck’s unique egg sandwiches, along with freshly made juices from Tico’s Juice Truck.  Pull up a chair or curb and enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of our market!

Be sure to stop by the Market Information Tent to sign up for our weekly newsletter, receive market information, borrow a cookbook and learn about our sponsors.  Market tokens (Market Bucks) are available for purchase using any major credit card and can be used as cash throughout the marketplace for those short on cash or wanting to avoid a stop at an ATM.

The Market is located in the Vaughn Drive Parking Lot of the southbound side of the Princeton Junction Train Station, one mile from the Alexander Road and Route 1 intersection or half a mile walk down Vaughn Drive from the Dinky stop.  Ample car and bicycle parking is available.  Use 2 Vaughn Drive, West Windsor in your GPS and the market is located at the 2nd driveway on the right as you enter Vaughn Drive.

West Windsor Community Farmers Market Best in Class

10/08/2015

West Windsor, NJ October 7, 2015 –American Farmland Trust’s summer-long Farmers Market Celebration – an annual effort to rally support for local farms and family farmers by calling on shoppers to identify the best of America’s farmers markets and West Windsor Community Farmers Market was rated top 50 best in class and the favorite within the state of New Jersey.   The WWCFM has been voted New Jersey’s best in class market four years in a row.

“Farmers markets are critical for new and beginning farmers,” says Susan Sink, American Farmland Trust’s Vice President of Development and External Relations. “Next generation farmers selling directly to consumers at farmers markets have nearly a 10 percent greater chance of staying in business than those selling goods through traditional retail. And when family farmers thrive – our community, economy and families thrive.”

This year’s Celebration encouraged market customers, family farmers, community members – anyone who believed they had the best farmers market in the country – to endorse their market in four unique areas: Focus on Farmers, Healthy Food for All, Pillar of the Community, and Champion for the Environment.

West Windsor Community Farmers Market national rankings are:

      People’s Choice: 19

      Focus on Farmers: 15

      Healthy Food for All: 17

      Pillar of the Community: 16

      Champion for the Environment: 15

Now in its twelfth year, the WWCFM in central New Jersey prides itself on its commitment to the agriculture in the state and remaining true to providing consumers a direct connection with the farmers that grow and raise their food.  Open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9:00am-1:00pm until November 21, at the Vaughn Drive Commuter Lot in West Windsor, the market is host to fifteen farms and eleven artisan and natural product vendors.  Live music, cooking demonstrations, special events and community groups round out the market experience.

The Market season continues by moving indoors once month to the Windsor Athletic Club at 99 Clarksville Road in West Windsor.  Dates are: December 12, January 9, February 13, March 12 and April and the markets will run from 10:00am-1:00pm.
