03/18/2013

Hopewell Valley Lacrosse (HVL) is pleased to announce the Little Laxers program for boys and girls ages 3 to 8.  The afternoons will offer an introduction to the sport in a relaxed environment with a focus on basic skill development. Our purpose to show beginners the fun of the game while learning the fundamentals.

The program will be held over the course of 6 weeks this Spring - from April 28 - June 2, at the Toll Gate Grammar School in Pennington. The fee for the program is $150, and registration can be done through the Register Online link on the Hopewell Valley Lacrosse website,
http://hovallax.com/#250907

We are honored to continue this introductory program for young players founded by Chris and Brogann Sanderson of Pennington. Their love of the game and excitement for teaching about the fun of lacrosse are core to the foundation of Hopewell Valley Lacrosse. HVL is especially pleased to announce that all registration fees collected for this year’s Little Laxers program will be donated to the trust that has been created in memory of Chris for their two girls.

New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame
I am thrilled to share with you the news that Hopewell Valley’s very own, Chris Cahill, will be inducted into the NJ Lacrosse Hall of Fame this coming Sunday, January 15thas a member of the Class of 2011.

Chris has long been active with Hopewell Valley Lacrosse, as a coach, girls program administrator, and Mr. Do-It-All and continues to help oversee our highly successful annual girls Lax in the Valley playday.  In addition, Chris founded and continues to lead the Bobby Campbell Lacrosse Foundation which provides free lacrosse clinics to youth in the area, awards college scholarships annually, created and runs the Trenton Bridge Lacrosse Program and has run the Central Jersey Select girls club program.  I think it is safe to say that Chris has positively impacted thousands – literally – of boys and girls in the central NJ region for years.  Needless to say, Chris is being inducted into the NJ Lacrosse HOF for his contributions to the sport.

Please join me in congratulating Chris for this outstanding recognition.

Scholarship Dedicated in Memory of the Late Ryan Sanderson
As most, if not all, of you are aware this past summer Hopewell Valley Lacrosse lost a true friend, Ryan Sanderson.  Ryan had been an active and enthusiastic member of the lacrosse community in our area since relocating from his native Canada a number of years ago.  And he had an incredibly positive impact on many of the boys in our program as a coach most recently.

To honor Ryan and create a means to remember his contributions as a coach and positive role model for our boys, Hopewell Valley Lacrosse has created a scholarship to be awarded in Ryan’s name annually to a player in our 6th grade boys program.  The scholarship will provide up to $500 for the recipient to attend a lacrosse camp of his or his family’s choice.

We will miss Ryan greatly; but we hope that this scholarship will keep his memory alive for all of us.

Thanks - and happy Laxin!
