HERBS FROM AROUND THE WORLD SYMPOSIUM

   The Delaware Valley Unit of The Herb Society of America is sponsoring an all-day symposium on “Herbs From Around the World” on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the D&R Greenway in Princeton.  Herbs from three areas of the world; India and China, Northern Europe, and Africa will be covered at the symposium. The talk on herbs from India and China will be presented by Ava Chin who writes the “Urban Forager” column for The New York Times.  Susan Taylor Moody, former garden manager at The Cloisters Museum in New York, will discuss European edible herbs and Rutgers’ professor Albert Ayeni, Coordinator, African Regional Programs at Rutgers’ School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, will provide information on “Nutritional and Health Value of Selected African Herbs.”

   The Delaware Valley Unit maintains an International Culinary Garden at the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead located on Route 29 North of Lambertville. The Gardens and museum are open to the public from May through October.

The cost for the symposium is $60.00 which includes lunch and refreshments.
